My piece for the Art Saves Lives - Silent Auction

This is the piece I made for the Silent Auction that our doll club sponosred to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. The piece is called Sisterhood. I am a breast cancer survivor. My sister is a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor. I realized that cancer touches all of us and we are changed forever by the experience. My piece is about the sisterhood that I have experienced with other women like myself who face this disease head on and live the premise that failure is just not an option.

My Latest Doll

This is Aislin, meaning dreamer; and boy did I feel like I was in a dream attending the retreat. It was wonderful, magical, scary, fun, mind blowing ~ Raven (aka Jean) and Sherry are the most gifted teachers that I have ever experienced. They can reach into your soul, pull out the most amazing techniques and, in Raven's case - toss you from the nest and watch as you fly! And, she does this all with this sweet little innocent smile; if you ever see it - RUN!! LOL

Now I am working on the dolls for the Saving the Tatas charity event!

Call for Artists - Save the TaTa's

Hey there, I am so excited about an upcoming even that our doll club is co-sponsoring with Mary Ellen, owner of Gallery 225, here in Gilbert AZ.
Our event, "Save the TaTa's" will be a silent auction and is going to be held on October 15th at Gallery 225. We are putting out a call to artists to donate their work to this special event where all the proceeds will go to the charity.
As a breast cancer survivor I am "over the moon" excited about this event. If you are interested in contributing as an artist, let me know and I will get you the guidelines and the submission form.
If you're not an artist, but would still like to help out - we're looking for any contributions, donations, etc. Just let me know and I will get you the information.
Thanks!
Cynthia

Working toward Expo

Well I am working away at getting ready for the Expo, Spring into Summer, at the Intuitive Development Center next Saturday.

I have a line of dolls ~ Intuitively Inspired and they represent the four ways of getting your messages. Knowing, Seeing, Feeling & Hearing! I am very excited.

I have a batch of fabric sitting in a solution of some very strong tea; my first attempt at dying fabric in this manner. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Picture of the name tag challenge piece

Doll Club Challenge ~ Name Tags

For the month of April, our doll club challenge was to make a name badge. I love the one I made! I actully made the fabric in my class last year with Patti Culea. I used an embilishing machine, silk, wook roving, angelina and free form stitching. I also used beading techniques I learned from Susan and using a book for instructions. I am going to make it more of a necklace than a pin however, since I don't like the way it hangs when it's pinned to my shirt!

Can't wait for doll club!

I'm Baaaaccckkk

Ok, I have decided that I am going to be very good about updating my blog site and make it a part of my daily musings. I am in the middle of getting ready for an expo on the 1st of May; at Intuitive Development, and I need to get my dolls finished. I am also working on the doll that came about as a result of my cabachon face that I made. Susan, aka the Night Beader, taught a class to a bunch of us from the doll club.

It was amazing and I will post a couple of pictures later. I keep struggling with staying motivated - maybe it's that I have so many ideas running in my head that it gets to be too overwhelming. Well I have asked the angels to help out and now I am on a roll!

Doll Club Round Robin

Our doll club is doing a round robin. We each made a torso and a journal for our doll and then packed her up in her traveling bag and handed her to the next lady on the list.
Each person gets to add to the doll and at the end of 10 months ~ my doll comes back to me complete! How fun! My doll's name is La Luna :)
